Brent Larson

3D Imaging: Pearls for Practice

Bio

Dr. Larson received his dental degree from the University of Minnesota, completed a general practice residency and practiced general dentistry for 3 years in the U.S Air Force. He then received his orthodontic training at the University of North Carolina before joining the staff at the Mayo Clinic. At Mayo, he served as Program Director in Orthodontics and received several “Teacher of the Year” awards. In 1996 Dr. Larson left Mayo for full-time private practice in Rochester, MN where he continues to practice 1 day a week. In 2004 he returned to full-time academics at the University of Minnesota where he currently serves as Professor and Director of the Division of Orthodontics. He has published many scientific articles and recently collaborated with his mentor, Dr. Proffit, on the latest edition of the contemporary Orthodontics textbook.

Dr. Larson has received the Distinguished Dental Alumnus Award and Century Club Professor of the Year from the University of Minnesota. He is also the 2018 recipient of the Jarabak Award given for significant contribution to orthodontic teaching and research.

Course Objectives

3D imaging brings amazing advantages to your practice and your patients, but because of the huge amount of information it provides, it can be a challenge to incorporate it into a busy clinical practice. Through a series of case presentations, a method of systematically reviewing 3Dvolumes will be demonstrated and tips will be shared for getting the most out of the images in a short time.

Understand the value of developing a systematic way to view a large field of view (FOV) CBCTvolume taken for comprehensive orthodontic assessment and planning.
Determine which orthodontic cases particularly benefit from advanced 3D imaging with large FOV CBCT.
Communicate a method of objective assessment of dental and skeletal asymmetry that can help with important treatment planning decisions.

Cole Johnson

Confessions of a Bed Wetter & Rice and Other Thieves of Happiness

Bio

Dr. Johnson is as unique as he is intriguing...some things you may not know about one of all our favorite Orthodontic speakers:

He loves children. Like, probably too much. He has 8 kids of his own...at least as far as we know.
His pastimes include hanging out at crosswalks, volunteering as a photographer for local swim teams, and slowly smelling bottles of fancy shampoo in the aisles of Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
Dr. Johnson has an array of talents! He Leads a men’s tumbling troupe and boasts the ability to eat his weight in birdseed. This frisky Capricorn wields a firm command of the Klingon, Na’avi, as well as MS Dos languages. He was the Multnomah County Athletic Club’s 2012 Pilates Instructor of the Year and is a 3-Time Mavis Beacon ‘Shirts n’Skins Speed-Typing’ Champion.
Dr. Johnson considers his greatest accomplishment to be the time he ate his standard lunch of 1/2 cup skim Cottage Cheese off the stomach of a guy who kind of looks like well-known B-list actor, Jason Bateman.

Dr. Doug Depew has maintained a thriving orthodontic practice in Kennesaw, Georgia since 1990. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia. He received his dental degree from the Medical College of Georgia where he graduated at the top of his class. His certificate in orthodontics and master’s degree was earned from Baylor College of Dentistry at Baylor University. His pursuit of excellence is exemplified by numerous achievements and awards.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Orthodontists

Bio

Dr. Kyle Fagala is the owner and orthodontist at Saddle Creek Orthodontics, with two locations in Germantown and Collierville, Tennessee. He is also co-founder of the digital marketing agency Neon Canvas and host of The Digital Orthodontist: Live! Dr. Kyle graduated from UT Memphis in 2013 with a certificate in orthodontics and a master's degree in Dental Science for his thesis on three-dimensional imaging of the airway. Dr.Kyle is the course director and lecturer of Development of the Occlusion, a class for first year dental students at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and a key opinion Leader for 3M Oral Care and Komet Burs. He loves music, specifically the drums, and spends more time than he should on social media. Dr. Kyle, his wife Anna, and their four children Charlie, Libby, George, and Lucy live in Germantown and attendHighland Church of Christ.

Bio

Dr. Mazyar Moshiri is an Invisalign©Elite Provider at his private practice in St. Louis, Missouri. A featured speaker in Ask the Expert webinars, he is a lead educator for Class II and Deep Bite solutions. As an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Saint Louis University Center for AdvancedDental Education, Dr. Moshiri lectures and provides clinical oversight on Invisalign treatment. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, and a fellow of the American College of Dentists.

Adrienne Twigg is an HR and employment compliance consultant and co-owner of Bent Ericksen & Associates and provides educational programs, training, and human resource services to dental professionals across the country. With her HR expertise and experience, coupled with a background managing a large dental group practice for 17 years, Adrienne’s presentations are insightful and practical, with an HR success-oriented focus.

Adrienne is part of the Seattle Study Club Speaker’s Bureau and is a Certified Facilitator of the“Appreciation at Work” training process.

She is a member of the American Association of Dental Office Managers, Academy of DentalManagement Consultants, Speaking Consulting Network, and the Society for Human ResourceManagement.
